Our complex, rapidly changing world calls for diverse leaders who deeply feel the inherent interrelationship between all of life. The Weaving Earth Center for Relational Education fosters a learning environment that is inspired by contemporary insights and grounded in ancestral wisdom. Guided by nature, we endeavor to draw out the vital contributions we each have to make to the great work before us.

DEEP NATURE CONNECTION

DEEP NATURE CONNECTION

Humans and nature are part of an inseparable whole. By connecting deeply to the natural world, we remember ourselves as an interconnected part of the ecosystem; fundamentally interdependent and uniquely differentiated. This orientation awakens vision, empathy, compassion, belonging and creative genius—both personal and collective.

Deep Nature Connection skills help participants to:

  • Cultivate a deep-seated, personal understanding of the interrelationship of all life
  • Develop an embodied sense of belonging
  • Learn the art of interpreting bird language
  • Expand sensory awareness
  • Build awareness of living systems via holistic tracking
  • Read and understand the story of a landscape

MENTORING

MENTORING

The ongoing health of community and ecology depends on the intergenerational transfer of knowledge, and the connection of every community member to themselves, to each other and to place.

Training in connection-based mentoring supports participants to:

  • Cultivate deep listening skills
  • Facilitate and evoke curiosity & creativity
  • Learn to facilitate group processes
  • Incorporate practices that develop connection to self, community and place
  • Understand and apply the methodologies of relationship-based mentoring
  • Disseminate teachings in culturally respectful ways

APPLIED PERMACULTURE

APPLIED PERMACULTURE

As humans, we have shaped and been shaped by our environments since the beginning. Now, as natural systems face increasing stress, we must ask: do our efforts follow nature's wisdom or defy it? Permaculture principles guide our response towards the health of the whole.

WE’s team of professional Permaculture designers support participants to:

  • Build capacity to understand and interrupt practices that have the planet at the brink of ecological collapse
  • Understand Permaculture design principles for creating a healthy human presence in ecological systems
  • Design, create and maintain annual garden and food forest systems through the seasons
  • Apply Permaculture strategies to projects, from design to implementation
  • Learn soil, water and habitat restoration

TENDING THE WILD

TENDING THE WILD

Direct, reciprocal relationship with the “wild” landscape evokes empathy, empowerment and vitality, while ensuring the health and longevity of earth’s natural systems. As humans tend to the health of the places we live by wisely gathering food, medicine and tools, both people and the land are incomparably enriched.

Wild Tending practices support participants to:

  • Re-member ourselves as a participatory species (among countless others) in a balanced ecosystem
  • Become caregivers and protectors of the natural world, via responsible tending, harvesting, and utilization of essential “resources”
  • Engage in ecosystem restoration projects
  • Practice Earth living skills—fire, water, shelter, food, medicine
  • Understand when to tend to a landscape and when to leave it alone

PEACEMAKING

PEACEMAKING

Healthy human relationships are at the foundation of regenerative culture. Weaving Earth works with practices to empower self-awareness, deep listening and the capacity to think and act like a circle. As we pursue collective liberation, these tools help us to connect across difference and engage the patterns of power and privilege we encounter along the way.

Peacemaking supports participants to:

  • Develop techniques for more skillful navigation of interpersonal human dynamics
  • Understand and experience the role of ceremony, ritual and prayer in the health of individuals and communities
  • Speak and listen from the heart
  • Practice body-based healing routines in service to personal peace and well-being
  • Navigate reciprocal relationships across difference

INNER TRACKING

INNER TRACKING

Just as we can read animal tracks on the forest floor, so too can we track movements within our internal landscape—of behaviors, judgments, dreams and longings. Our ability to see the dance within calls forth our wholeness and gifts.

Inner Tracking skills support participants to:

  • Activate personal gifts and vision
  • Learn to nourish these gifts in self and others
  • Gain awareness and understanding of personal obstacles, and techniques for their transformation
  • Cultivate forgiveness and adaptability
  • Increase analysis of privileges and disadvantages assigned by societal structures
  • Deepen relationship to personal and collective stories of ancestry and lineage
  • Value and appreciate personal growth and change

HOLISTIC LEADERSHIP AND
COMMUNITY RESILIENCE

HOLISTIC LEADERSHIP AND
COMMUNITY RESILIENCE

Our current era requires leadership that is born out of the maturation of the human spirit. Such leadership must be rooted in interrelationship, fueled by creative collaboration, deeply aware of historical patterns of oppression and considerate of the health and well-being of many generations to come. Community resilience emerges when leadership is sourced out of respect for the whole.

Training in holistic community leadership supports participants to:

  • Gain experience of being and living as community
  • Build capacity to interrupt patterns of power, privilege and systems of oppression
  • Think, act and lead like a circle
  • Recognize the importance of honoring life’s transitions
  • Carry awareness and response-ability as local community members & global citizens

CONNECTION TO CREATIVITY

CONNECTION TO CREATIVITY

Creativity is far more than our capacity to make art. It is a key element to solving today's problems with different perspectives than those that generated them. When we open a channel for inspiration to move through us unhindered, emergent solutions and innovations are born.

Pathways to creativity support participants to:

  • Deepen sensory awareness, intuition, and connection to creative source
  • Engage in practices that cultivate an unmediated relationship with mystery
  • Improvise, adapt, and gain comfort with not-knowing
  • Live from a place of gratitude as a baseline experience
  • Generate vision and strong intention for the life you would love to lead
